Tears, bittersweet, mourning drops of liquid sliding down the sides of a porcelain doll. Her parents had died, no, they were killed this day years ago. She hated the fact her parents death still bothered her. With woe in her heart, she rose her head to the sky, looking for something. All at the same time, she searched for nothing. A light breeze picked up her yellow-tinted hair, carrying it every which way it pleased. Her lips parted for a moment, allowing a small sigh from them. If only it was raining, they day would be complete.
Her arms were clutched in front of her, crossed, holding onto what others could see as a black book. Only those who were blessed with its powers would know what it was. A death note. She turned away from the shrine, the place in which her parents lay, still clutching onto the death note. "If only I had the note first..." She spoke softly to Rem. Others standing by would only think she were talking to herself. Ordinary citizens unaware of the danger so close to them. She ignored the passers by. They meant nothing to her, unless they meant something to Light or she knew them for some other reason.
She turned her head to the left, then to the right, before proceeding down the walkway. It was times like these the girl seemed lost. The bottom of her boots clacked against the gravel with each of her steps. Her skirt fluttered about with the small gusts of wind. It was not a cold day, but she felt freezing. Ice shrouded her heart. She looked for a familiar face. There was none in the crowd.
Her thoughts became her legs, carrying her to a nearby park. She scanned the area, looking for a seat or a bench to sit on. Once she found it, she took it. Her left leg crossed over her right as she leaned into the back of the bench. For a moment, she looked down to see her fishnet stockings, one of which was torn just a bit. She frowned. The stockings were not cheap, but it was not as if she did not have the money to burn for a new pair.
Little creatures bustled about the area. Some begged for food off of the walkers or joggers. Still, nothing caught her attention. She sighed once more, uncrossed her legs, and stretched while still seated on the bench. "What a boring day." She looked up once more...

Akira smiled as he tossed a ball around in his hands. Just a few days ago he'd returned home, and now he was acting like nothing had happened. From the newspapers he had learned that his father had committed suicide a few years after he had disappeared. Supposedly, after Akira had left, the father had lost his job, robbed twice, and even assaulted on multiple accounts. In the end, the man had just decided that it wasn't worth it and ended it once and for all. Since Akira had hated the man from his earliest days, he had no yearning whatsoever to deal with him. He hadn't shed one tear over the dead man.
'We can't go like this forever. You'll have to let me go eventually.' A voice said inside of Akira's head. It was the fallen angel that had been sealed inside of him a long time ago. Just recently it had been able to communicate with him, something that annoyed Akira more than anything. The angel was frankly annoying, always trying to find a why to get Akira to unleash it. He had now yearning to do it though. Whenever the angel was free, Akira was forced to kill the people he loved most.
A month before his birth, an angel of God had fallen from Heaven. In his quest to return, the angel had succombed to the sin of humanity, and eventually became twisted. In an attempt to heal the angel, Akira and it were fused together, hoping that the pure youth inside of him would be able to cure the angel, the ancient order that had fused them watched patiently, hoping that one day they would be able to send the angel back. As the years went by, the angel eventually got out, killing some of Akira's best friends. This was the reason why Akira was forced to leave Tokyo. But after all of this time, he'd finally decided to come back.
As he pushed the memories out of his head, Akira noticed a woman nearby. For some reason, he felt like there was something deeper going on here. 'Can't you feel it? The stench of the Shinigami?' The angel said inside of his head. The Shinigami were the beings that killed the humans. If they didn't fulfill this duty, they'd die. Recently, Akira and the angel had noticed the deaths all over Tokyo and America. Suspecting that a Shinigami was involved, this was one of the bigger reasons why Akira had decided to come to Tokyo.

God of death. The atmosphere whispers a queer tune. It's words are simple, hard to understand by the normal, average passer by. But no, not the one who she laid her eyes upon. Glancing down for a short moment, the female took in strange markings on the kid's shoes. Back to watching his face, she smiled. "Hello there!" She called out to him. Then, she stood. Her body almost jumped off of the bench to approach the other. The notebook, which had been in front of her, she now moved to her side, keeping at least one arm around it at all times. She kept the side with the writing close to her body, just in case others tried to read it. It was a strange inanimate object of evil. The book, that is.
As she walked closer, the more she found herself watching him. She did not like it. It seemed...odd. Her whole framed stopped a decent distance away from him. "Misa Amane's the name." She bowed forward just a bit. As she did so, her eyes fell upon the sneakers again, catching the number six written in succession three times. Her pig tails bounced about as she rose from her bow. "There's not that many people around to talk to and Misa hates being bored." Her explanation for approaching him came out. Eyes wandering once more, she saw the ball in which the other tossed about in his hands. Redirecting her eyes she spoke again: "What's your name?"
The back of her mind smirked. She did not really need to ask him his name, she could see it, dangling above his head. Akira Sylfaen. She even saw his lifespan beneath his name. If she felt the need, she would have stored the name. Instead, she left it up to this, Akira to tell her who he was. Normal people do not just go up to a random stranger saying: 'hello -insert name here-' if they have never met the person before. Good thing Misa knew how to act. She would need it in many situations.

'I told you. From the amount of the stench upon her, I'd say that she has the Shinigami Eyes. Be careful...she might have a Death Note, and I don't wish to die inside of your wretched body.' The angel said as Misa started talking to Akira. A little cautious, Akira continued to smile. "My name is Imaginihs." He said, testing to see how she'd react to this. The name he had just mentioned was actually Shinigami spelled backwards. If she understood it, then she'd also understand that he knew more than he was letting on. 'Don't worry. I don't have any intentions of dying.' He thought back to the angel, feeling its anxiety.
'People always have intentions, but most of them die. Don't push her too far, or else we could very well be lying in the morgue by tomorrow morning.' The rage that was in the angel could be clearly felt in that sentence. It had a very hard time coping with the way he was living now. Angels weren't affected by the Shinigami, but it didn't know what would happen now that it was sealed inside of a human. It would be fairly possible that it would cease to exist. There was only a small chance that it would be freed after Akira died, but only a small one.
Ignoring it, Akira moved on. "So, your name's Misa, eh? I never thought that someone would have eyes as beautiful as yours." Smirking, he hinted at the Shinigami eyes. To a normal person passing by, they'd believe he was flirting with her, something that he probably would never do. There was only one person he'd flirt with, and as far as he knew, she was dead.

Silent cautions: Misa, watch for this one. I fear for your safety. Misa took her own precautions. Mentioning his 'name'. Yes, well now that was a smart idea. He had managed to stun both Rem and herself. Now what would she do. Could he have a notebook as well? If that were true, then...Her mind squelched the thought. "What an odd name. Is that Japanese?" She giggled and leaned forward just a bit. "But don't worry. I won't tell if you won't." She had no reason to eliminate this person from the world. He was not a threat to her nor to her love..as far as she knew. His name would stay a secret in her mind, but she vowed to remember it. He was interesting enough to remember.
Small intervals of time passed with little gusts of wind that toyed with Misa's hair and attire. She kept her mind open to Rem's advice, although the Shinigami was only watching for now. If anything went wrong Rem would step in. The Shinigami was tense. Rem wondered how this boy could know of her existence without a notebook. Was it some trick? Was he just playing around?
"Thank you." Misa smiled a wide smile. "You seem to know so much about Misa for meeting her for the first time. But," She sighed. "these eyes are only for one person and are not open to the general public." Mirroring. It was a tactic. Most of the time, Misa used it when she had a difficult character. She would ask someone to act out as that character before she tried. Sometimes, she would wind up acting the same as the person who tried out before her, with her own personal twist of course. "So, does god bring you here today?"
Kira was everywhere, in the news, online, on television. It was a simple conversation topic. Some were sensitive to it, while others would only talk about it to figure out who Kira was. Then again, there were those who decided to follow Kira and help make a perfect world.

"If you're talking about Kira, then no." He said, knowing now that the two understood. They both knew about the Shinigami. "He may kill criminals, but murder is still against the law, and those who break it should be punished." Akira said, keeping an eye on Misa. He could tell that she had some kind of connection with Kira, but he didn't know how strong it was. At the time being, his goal would be to find out whose side she was on. Kira's, or the law. Either way, it didn't really matter to him. Kira would eventually find his downfall, all that Akira was doing was uncovering what was really happening.
"But I'm sure that you have a different take on this. Heck, you probably know more about it than most people." He hinted. At the time being, it was possible that she was Kira, but doubtful. Kira would kill anyone that got in his way of making a 'perfect world'. If she happened to be Kira, then he'd be dead by now. But since he was alive, that meant that the odds were, she was not Kira. But that didn't mean she wasn't connected. As he began thinking of this, many possibilities wandered through his head. At the end, the most likely was that she had some feelings for Kira, and knew him personally. Of course, this was just a speculation.

Keeping a watchful eye, the Shinigami remained silent for the time that passed. Her ideas would mean little to nothing in this conversation. Misa, on the other hand, tilted her head to the side as she listened. He is not all that bad. Sure, he killed criminals, and killing in general is a crime, but he killed the criminals who were not being punished. For now, she kept her tongue in check. It was just a time for listening. Although, her mind, was too spontaneous to sit back for too long. "Which is the bigger crime? Killing criminals who have not been sentenced for their crimes or allowing the criminals to roam around and continue to break the law?" She sighed. "The police, the government, they had the power to punish the criminals. But, most of the time, the criminals would get a slap on the wrist." Misa looked at the ground, her face tilted to the side a bit, some of her hair fell in her face.
"It may be that Kira is in the wrong for killing criminals, as killing is a crime. Yet, he killed a criminal I knew all too well..." She raised her head again. "He takes the criminals the police let slide and gives them judgment. If he should be punished for that then humanity needs to rethink it's stance on punishment." That was why she followed. One action, one inadvertent action that led to the killing of the man who killed her parents. Once again, it was a shame she did not stumble across the Note first. Then again, with the way things were now, she was at a win win. The criminal was killed and she helped the love of her life. What could be better. "Have you ever wanted to punish a criminal?" She asked with curiosity.

Akira smiled. "All the time, and I usually do it. But never have I killed a normal criminal. Kira is no God. He doesn't have the right to decide who lives and who dies. Also, what about those detectives? What about Ray Penber? He was killed because he got close to Kira. I believe...that Ray figured out who the true Kira was!" He said. 'Whoever it is, though, is far smarter than most people. I doubt that I would be able to discover who he truly was.' Akira thought to himself. Of course, the angel had to reply back. 'Good. If you went up against Kira, you would be striked down.'
"Anyways...have you ever punished a criminal? I'm sure that with those eyes you could punish anyone that you wanted." Akira said, again hinting at what he had already figured out. He was certain that a Shinigami was right there with them. But since he wasn't dead, Akira guessed that he would be able to play this game a little longer. The more he found out about this woman, the more he'd be able to find out about Kira.
